Save the Bees

Efforts to help save the Bees

Since CCD has become a know problem there has been more efforts made to help find a cause for it. The farm bill has dedicated more funds to "pollinators" in specific which helps in the research needed to see what is causing CCD. There have also been many environmental groups started that raise funding and awareness for this problem. Most people are not aware of this issue and when they are asked to give funds to help out research they just scoff at the cause and think that there is much more important things they can give their donations to. This really is a valid cause that needs a solution soon. Another way to help out without having to shell out any money is to plant bee friendly flowers and to cut down on amounts of pesticides used in your garden. The bees need to be saved and they are unable to do it themselves, they wouldn't even be surviving without the help of people.

CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder)

About 5 years ago farmers began to notice and start reporting a drastic decline in the amount of bees in their hives. Bees were suddenly disappearing for no reason and hundred of hives were being wiped out. Once this problem was reported researchers began to look into the issue and identified it as CCD. Unfortunately researchers had a name for the problem but not a cause. There have been many theories that could have caused the problem such as stress, pesticides, weakened immune systems, and even the use of cell phones. While all these problems were researched not one of them has be found as a proven cause of CCD. At this point the research for the cause of CCD continues and the only thing that can be done is for beekeepers to keep breeding their bees to avoid them becoming extinct and to keep an acceptable amount of bees alive needed for pollination.

Why bee's are important to people

Bee's may seem like they aren't that important and that if anything they are more of just an annoying insect. If you think like this then you are absolutely wrong. Bees are the reason that we have one third of our source of food. We need bees to pollinate many of the crops that we eat like fruits and vegetable's, we also need them to pollinate the food that animals eat as well. If bees were extinct we would have major problems, our survival would be the biggest. Albert Einstein once said that if bees were to become extinct then we would only have four years left to live. Bees play a vital role for our ecosystem and are needed so much that beekeepers have to rent out their hives every year to farms in order for them to be able to get all of their crops pollinated. After reading this you know that bees are not just around to make honey, they are needed for so much more.
